It's impossible to talk about Legendary Marketer without talking about its founder, David Sharpe. David tells his rags-to-riches story on the Legendary Marketer website, mentioning his rough childhood and years as an addict to his finding success making money online. This heartfelt appeal doesn't mention Sharpe's close affiliation with another legendary bit of online marketing, Empower Network. Empower Network was an MLM scheme that was incredibly popular and influential in 2013 and 2014, and then had a very public collapse and dissolution in 2016.
David Sharpe's latest project, Legendary Marketer, avoids any claim of being an MLM because it doesn't have multiple levels. It's an online and affiliate marketing education company. Is it just another risky business like Empower Network? Or does Legendary Marketer really work? Let's find out.
Legendary Marketer offers online marketing training for new and existing online businesses. It specializes in teaching people how to make money online through affiliate marketing and specializes even further in training affiliates to sell Legendary Marketer.
Legendary Marketer sells itself as training and education for online marketing. They have several levels of classes/trainings.
Legendary Marketer also sells specific how-to courses for different online businesses:
Legendary Marketers also invites members to live Mastermind events:
There are two levels of Legendary Marketer affiliates. Basic affiliates can join the program for free and earn 10 – 30% commissions on product sales. PRO affiliates pay $29.95 per month and can earn 40 – 60% commissions on their sales and have access to advanced training.
Basic affiliates earn:
PRO affiliates earn:
Affiliates also qualify for the Legendary Marketer tuition reimbursement program. If you invest in a Legendary Mastermind product, and then sell 10 units of that product over the next 2 years, you can apply to have the original cost of the product refunded to you.
Not a scam
Legendary Marketer is not a scam. People do genuinely learn about online marketing through these courses, and affiliates really do earn their commissions.
Expensive
While Legendary Marketer does give good information and valuable lessons, these courses and classes are expensive, and much of this information can be found elsewhere online for a lower cost or even for free. Some Legendary Marketer affiliates compare the cost to a college education and point out that their programs are cheaper, but that's a very disingenuous argument.
Understaffed coaches
Some affiliates have recently started complaining about Legendary Marketer being understaffed. These affiliates are referring a ton of traffic to the site, but only earn commissions when Legendary Marketer staff converts the lead and closes the sale. When Legendary Marketer fails to convert, affiliates don't get their commissions. This may be a temporary problem that could be addressed by hiring, but it is disheartening some affiliates who do believe in the product but aren't realizing their earning potential.
Reliance on in-person events
Empower Network was, perhaps, most famous at its peak for the almost cult-like nature of their sales events and motivational techniques. The Mastermind Events, with their vague descriptions of teaching you how to generate wealth, realize your potential, and live your best life, have shades of these techniques. However, such events and techniques are not uncommon in thee sales and marketing industry, and many people find them motivating.
Frequent changes
The product offerings, membership levels, names, and prices for Legendary Marketer products change very often. This can make it hard for affiliates to frequently change their pitch and approaches and meet the tuition reimbursement guidelines.
Legendary Marketer isn't a scam, but it is overpriced, needlessly complex, and over-reliant on personalities and psychological techniques over objective facts and information. There are better online marketing programs available.
